Raison d’être

I think I have sorted through enough past posts, hate mail, thank you letters and my own convoluted logic to finally make a post and tell you what I think I am going to do with the blog.
I used to write about Plus Sized Models, BBW Actresses, Fat Acceptance and the like exclusively and thought it was very promising niche to be associated with, given my strong feeling on the subject and, if you will allow me an immodest moment, my at least average writing ability.
I had a great time, met some wonderful people and had experiences that I both learned from and will cherish all of my days. It is with that touching little statement out-of-the-way that I will say what I came here to say and not baby it any further.
I will not ever fucking write about certain web models again. I will not try to kiss the ass of an entire niche of women who will in turn play kiss face with me until they get what they want and then denigrate me to the community at large. For those of you who may know what I am talking about, you do not. It is not models that you have ever heard of that did this, which I suppose is the root of the rage, but Freud was a cocaine fiend and can’t always be believed.
I will talk about who I want, for both good or ill, and finally not give a shit what is said about me one way or the other.
Why?
Some people need to get their asses handed to them as much as some need to be praised.
So you have seen a few examples of what I plan on doing, little vignettes on people instead of the epics I used to do. I am not taking either suggestions or volunteers. I write what I wish, when I wish about who I wish, Kelly Shibari taught me that.
So if you want to come along, rock out. If not, piss off.

Pin-Up Model

I have been fascinated with Pin up Models, or Pin Up Girls as they are known since I was a little kid. I recently had a discussion about someone who was woefully uninformed, and in the worst possible way, about them and I thought would make a few clarifications, just to set the record straight.
Firstly, this person was under the impression that the pin-up girl was a thing of the past. That the “sensation” as he called them, died shortly after Word War II. While it is true that a lot of the popularity soared during that time, Pin-up girls have been around since at least the 1890’s, the truly first big names coming out of the 1920’s with the likes of Betty Grable, Gloria Swanson and Joan Crawford.
It is true that the massive popularity of the Pin-up came in the 1940’s and 50’s. Aided by Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Betty Paige, Rita Hayworth and Dorothy Dandridge. These women were the epitome of beauty for the era and inspired the men of the Second Word War as well as a whole generation of young men. My father often used to talk about his father’s Rita Hayworth poster. He kept it on his wall for almost fifty years before necessity made him take it down, and tears flowed when he did. It was an integral part of his life, she helped him get through harder times than i will most likely ever have to go through.
Secondly and lastly for the purposes of this post, he was under the impression that Pin-up girls were of a certain size. He thought they all had the stick thin, over-large breasts of today’s porn stars. After I corrected him that even the earliest and crudest efforts with breast augmentation in the United States did not occur until the forties, eliminating most of the women on this list, I also pointed out to him the sizes, the measurements, of the women above.
I told him that Marilyn Monroe’s official measurements, according to the studio at the time were 37-23-36. That stands in stark contrasts to a article I found that lists the “ideal” fashion runway model measurements at a disgusting 32-22-33. In the terms of today, Marilyn would be grossly disproportionate for the “look” most magazines, fashion house and even the general populace go for.
Size and beauty have nothing to do with one another. I have screamed this since I was sixteen, however this post is more specific and I will eave that be for now. These women were meant to be beautiful sights that men, “pinned up” to a wall, locker or the like and it gave them a reason to keep going.
Yes, before you get crude, I am sure they were used for that as well, and why not? These women are divine example of beauty and perhaps should be honored in such a primal fashion.
He was quite satisfied with his information, truly happy that he had been corrected on his views. I walked away from the conversation knowing I had done a good thing, righted a wrong if you will.

What can one really say about her that has not been said already? I have written about her dozens of times in dozens of incarnations of this blog and others. I have yet to do her justice if truth be told, and I doubt that anything I write here will truly frame this wonderful woman in the way she deserves, but I swear I shall try my utmost, she deserves that and so much more.
I met her long ago at a now defunct website,her beauty so much more than anyone else there by so much. Not just the beauty of her body, which is worth a book in itself, but the real beauty of the woman herself. I sent her an email, a shy thing if I am not mistaken, thanking her for what she did. I did not do it to try to get laid, try to have her send me free pictures or even to have her reply. I did it because she was simply that wonderful.
She did reply, quickly at that, and a friendship that has lasted two and a half years to date began.
Her kindness and generosity of spirit jumps at you with everything she says and you feel compelled to like her, to respect her, to simply be her friend. Having been honored enough to speak with her on the phone, I will tell you that her voice and laugh are infectious, if you are not laughing when she is there is something wrong with you.
Now, do not get me wrong, I know how sensual she is. I know how divine she is. I simply wanted you to know what I truly love about her before I spoke about the physical aspects of her beauty. She is not simply a piece of meat, examined by unsightly proprietors, she is a woman who deserves love, respect and honor.
Her pictures are as eclectic as she is. She will be smiling and laughing in one, her mirth and joy right at the surface, making the viewer smile. In another, like the one to the left, deeper emotions are tapped that perhaps some of us did not know that we had.
I will not dissect the woman, give you numbers and measurements. Go and see her, go and find out more about her and you will be drawn to her as I am and you will not regret the experience
